The Unknown Great Mods
      #2962331 - 08/23/04 04:56 PM

I'm going to start a new game soon and I'm looking for mods. I've noticed that there are quite a bunch of mods out there that are nearly completely unknown yet seem to be very good.

So I'm asking you to share your recommendations... not for the well known stuff but for the mods that you have on your drive and use and always wonder why no one ever mentions them.
No matter how big they are in size or scope or whether they are about quests, neat tweaks or simply atmosphere, as long as they are good they belong in this thread.

And since they are unknown, a description and possibly a link would be nice as well. So go ahead and put the underdogs on the stage.

Well, my first mod installed was "Sauron's Abode" (can't remember the author). It was a beautifully designed house mod placed in Pelagiad, with a seperate esp full of all the spoilerish additions (a very intelligent practice... ).

Another one I rarely see mentioned, and is quite good, is "A Call To Issalar" (SP?). The dialogue was a bit hard to follow, and the questing info wasn't very user friendly. Also, I experienced a few annoying bugs, but overall, it was a well designed plugin and very immerseive.

"NoGlo". I can't stand that plastic wrap with enchanted items, and never play without it.

"Bitter Coast Sounds". The photodragons, and swamp ambiance is mesmerizing at sunset now along the Bitter Coast.

Hmmm... That's all I can think of.

Don't know how unknown these are but i always have used them:

1. Carry Your Bedroll - carry your bedroll
2. Fire Hurts - my mod. Makes fire hurt you if you stand on it. I really should update this to give fire damage instead of health damage. Watch for it.
3. NoGlo - as Miles_Acreaus said
4. Real Signposts - Makes the signs readable
5. Ring Texture Fix - Fixes ring textures

A personal favorite of mine that I never see mentioned is "Cait's Critters Unleashed". I'm pretty sure it's an older mod, but can easily be found with a search at a major mod site. The mod adds various livestock (cows, chickens, pigs, and goats) to the game world in virtually every place people live, from the plantations in Ascadian Isles all the way up to Dagon Fel. I personally think it's great for atmosphere (which is all it's for, the animals don't wander around much and certainly won't attack you).. I know I wouldn't want to live off Nix hound and rat meat only!

my favourite house mod: Anastasio the Great's Hideout. The display room is aesthetically one of the best out there.

The mods I have in nearly every game of me are (and I think are not this known):
- Teurgist (nice small quests for a mage player)
- Imperial Cult Teleporter & temple teleporter (both are good for fast travel)
- Foxy Tweaks (Diverent Game Tweaks in seperate mods)
- MagicHome (nice Faction for Mages but think this is a more known mod)
- InfernalContract (because of some bugs in the Version I have is it posible to become a überChar but if you dont exploit them its a nice mod that improves you power for a price)
- ability Trainers (some Traines that gvie you special Abilitys if you can pay them)
- Cult of the Clouds (My personal favorit Mage Faction so fare)

Durzog Hide Armour.
To me this is the most amazing looking armour set created for Morrowind (and that's saying something, because a lot of fantastic armour has come out). And it's integrated very professionally, too.

Thirsk and Raven Rock expansion - I dunno about the Raven Rock bit, I haven't seen it, but it adds an awesome little hunters hall next to Thirsk that really makes the whole place a whole lot cooler

The lesser known ones that I use and enjoy in each game:
-Tower of Hawkwing (places a Telvanni tower outside Balmora and has Imperial style within)
-Morrowind Toy Shoppe (many figurines and other collectibles scattered throughout the island)
-Trade Disputes (a well done quest near Gnisis that always could use more publicity)

Trade disputes is a great little mod

The Farmer Mod is pretty unsung outside it's forums. Go download the newly released version 3.2 HERE.

It's a great bit of scripting, and now you can turn your farms into fortresses

Fallen Aedra Armor
A demon version of Sheikizza Aedric Crystal Armour.
But to have it, you must fight a really really strong opponent

1 - NoGlo - against the glow effects of the enchanted items;
2 - Travelling Merchants by GhanBuriGhan - merchants that travell all over Vvardenfell selling stuff, and avoid your monotony during your walking;
3 - Indybank & Goldweight - banking system in Vvardenfell and another .esp that adds weight to your money;
4 - Erengard Mines by Graphite - good and balanced way to make some money investing in diamond mines;
5 - ExcuseMe_Random - avoids the generic greeting when you are the Nerevarine.

Quest wise, I am surprised not alot of people mention FTG ( Five Toes Guild ). This is one of the most enjoyable and fun mods I've ever tried. But the story is so funny/stupid at first that most people don't give it a chance as a real good mod.

Nerevarine Palace- puts a Vivec type house next to Vos with a bar for entertainment and a merchant. Theres a BIG show room, guards to protect u, a swiming pool that leads to a throne room, a big bed room and a sword above the bed thats kind of a bonus. Its a great house but I don't think I ever heard anyone mention it. Its on summit btw if u wanna try it

Quest mods:

Io's Cave (great low level starter mod outside Seyda Neen)
Deus Mallei
Charms of Aqueous
The Crooked Tower (some excellent scripting in this one)
Cult of the Talosec (also excellent scripting)

"The Savage mountain Orcs".
Not sure who made it.
This adds many groups of orcs in the wilderness who attack you. Each group usually has some human slaves.
